Weekly options factsheet
Weeklys are
options that are listed with approximately one week to expiration. Because of
their short term, Weeklys can be cheaper to use and can provide investors with
more targeted trading opportunities. This flexibility can help investors take
advantage of market events, such as earnings, government reports and Fed
announcements.
As of July 1, 2010 new Weekly option series at CBOE will be listed on Thursdays and expire the following Friday. Previously, new series were listed on Friday and expired the following Friday. No new Weeklys are listed that would expire during the expiration week for standard options, which is the third Friday of each month.
CBOE's Weeklys options are short term options that are listed on Thursday and expire the following Friday. New Weeklys are listed each week except that no new Weeklys are listed that would expire during the expiration week for standard options (the third Friday of each month).
